Children’s Diabetes testimonial # 1
Penny’s son with diabetes has been on mangosteen juice for 1 year and now has reduced sugar levels and lower insulin usage.
My seven year old son was diagnosed with Type 1, insulin dependant, diabetes one year ago. When we initially started him on mangosteen juice around July of last year, his blood sugar numbers became more stable and I needed to slightly reduce his insulin doses.
We continue to keep him on the juice at 2 – 3 oz. per day – 1 oz. before each meal – [the full maintenance order for mangosteen juice] as we know the antioxidant properties in the xanthones will help to protect him from infection and other complications that some diabetics suffer from as the years go by.
Even for those recently diagnosed, the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes can be very confusing! The good thing is, drinking mangosteen juice, in my opinion, is beneficial for both. I’m not an exert, having started the Type-1-diabetes-crash-course a year ago, but here is a quick description of diabetes, Type 1 and 2.
Type 1
…is considered an autoimmune disease. My son also has Celiac, which is another autoimmune disease. For whatever reason, the body sees the insulin producing beta cells within the pancreas as foreign invaders and starts killing them. As the beta cells die, the body’s ability to process sugar is diminished and blood glucose levels rise to often dangerous levels. Insulin is the key that unlocks the energy giving sugar into all the body’s cells. Without it, the body will starve. Type 1 rears it’s ugly head in babies, young children, as in my son’s case, adolescents and up to age 44 or so. Insulin is not a cure, but, along with daily exercise and a healthy diet, Type 1 diabetes can be well managed.
Type 2
…is when the body becomes insulin resistant. The pancreas is still producing insulin, but the body does not utilize it properly and you get, once again, high blood glucose levels. Sometimes injected insulin is used to give the pancreas a rest but most type 2s are prescribed drugs to lower their glucose levels.
In this case, mangosteen juice is very helpful in lowering sugar levels. The xanthones help the body function better and gives that insulin “key” an extra turn to unlock the sugar in the cells. Type 2 can occur at most ages, even young kids, and can be, in some people, completely cured with lifestyle changes such as losing weight, getting more exercise and following a low carb diet.
With frequent blood sugar finger tip testing (up to 10 times a day), daily exercise and 2-3 oz. of mangosteen juice with meals, I am confident that my son will grow up healthy and live a long and happy life.

Children’s Diabetes testimonial # 2
Trudy’s niece with Child Diabetes has blood sugar levels that rise dangerously, even with insulin. Trudy says that the full adult’s maintenance order of mangosteen juice seems to even her system out.
My niece developed diabetes when she was 2 years old. She is now 11 and has been living with me for almost 2 years. From the day I started caring for (Rebecca), her blood sugars have been a serious problem. Most days she was above 300 and many [times], over 600.
N.B.: A “safe” level is considered to be between 70-105 Everyday Health.com
The doctor was always adjusting her insulin but by February of this year it seemed the insulin was (no longer) working. March 3rd she ended up in the emergency room – she had 3 HI’s that day. It took 4 hours for the emergency room eam to get her blood sugar down into the 200’s by giving her 10 units of insulin intravenously every hour.
On March 26 we were introduced to mangosteen juice. I started giving her ½ oz mangosteen juice juice before each meal and her blood sugars were in the low 100’s. If she didn’t get the juice she would go into the 300 or 400’s.
One day the nurse at school called and said my niece was not feeling good so I brought her home. Her blood sugar was HI at lunch and when I got her home it was still HI. I gave her 1 oz. of mangosteen juice and in 30 minutes her blood sugar was 143 and an hour later it was down to 132 without an insulin correction.
We have upped her dosage to 1 oz. with each meal [the full maintenance order for mangosteen juice] and she is O.K. When she doesn’t get juice with a meal, her blood sugars rise even with insulin. We have [the] choice to either increase her insulin or use the juice – we are using the juice.
